Initial Itinerary... Flying from London (Gatwick) to Bangkok, Thailand. Travelling overland through Thailand, Malaysia and onto Singapore over 3 months. Flying from Singapore to Bali for another 2 months and then onto Perth, Australia for a year. I ended up popping back to Bali for a couple of months on my way round Australia and then returned to Bali for another 6 months once my time in Australia was up. Flight Details Outward flight with Garuda Indonesia (booked through STA Travel). One-way ticket to Australia, allowing me to stay for the maximum length of my Australian WHM visa - 1 year. Flew with China Airlines return from Sydney, Australia to Bali - simply because they were the cheapest, and the longest at 14 hours with a stopover in Taipei! Go figure - Taipei's off the map! Finally left Oz, one-way, with Qantas to Denpasar, Bali and then with Malaysian Airlines to KL, Malaysia and back to the UK. Oh, and not forgeting the internal flights within Indonesia with Merpati from Bali to Lombok and with Garuda again from Bali to Jakarta, Indonesia's capital.
Addendum (Added 23rd Nov 2003)
I flew back to Bali mid January 2003 for a couple of months with China Airlines. Mid October 2003 my Australian Visa expired, so it was time to leave. At this point I had to book my return flight back to the UK (again one-way). With a Social/Cultural visa for Indonesia I flew from Darwin to Denpasar, Bali with Qantas on the 15th October 2003. With a maximum stay of upto 6 months in Indonesia, the plan is then to fly to KL, Malaysia around mid April 2004 for perhaps a month and then back to the UK around mid to late May in time for the 2004 summer. Coming from the tropics, a British winter was best avoided I thought!
